Full- and half-tuition scholarships are available for participation with the รศรรสำฦต A Cappella Choir, Singers and Show Band for the 2019-2020 school year. Students don’t have to be music majors to participate. Scholarships are only available for Alabama residents upon completion of a successful audition. Gadsden, Ala.- Incoming freshmen at รศรรสำฦต who were unable to attend Cardinal Commit are invited to attend one of the New Cardinal Commit Sessions scheduled for August. Sessions will be from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 1 and 8 at the One Stop Center on the East Broad Campus and Aug. 7 and 14 at the Learning Resource Center on the Ayers Campus in Anniston. A virtual session will be held on Facebook from noon to 1 p.m. Aug. 6. Students participating in the sessions will receive assistance with general advisement, course registration and how to pay for classes. รศรรสำฦต’s Continuing Education Department is offering “Crash Course in Photography” from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 3 in Room 115 of the Joe Ford Center on the East Broad Campus. Gadsden, Ala. - รศรรสำฦต will be closed during the morning of Aug. 15 in order for faculty and staff to participate in the fall semester convocation and local professional development. All offices, services and departments will resume normal operations in the Gadsden area at 11 a.m. while campuses in Anniston and Centre will resume normal operations at 11:30 a.m.
รศรรสำฦต’s Veterans Upward Bound program will be available at the main office of รศรรสำฦต Cherokee from 8 a.m. to noon every Monday beginning Aug. 5. Military veterans residing in the Cherokee, DeKalb or Marshall county area are invited to take advantage of the free services offered through VUB, a TRiO program funded 100 percent by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Enrollment at รศรรสำฦต or any other college or university is not mandatory in order to participate. Free workshops are offered on a range of topics including Tech Tuesday, which teaches eligible participants to use the latest technology, computer skills, financial literacy and résumé and interview skills. Gadsden, Ala.- Applications are now being accepted through Sept. 1 for the Spring 2020 Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at รศรรสำฦต. Those interested must complete all prerequisites and attend one of three mandatory informational meetings scheduled at Prater Hall on the Valley Street Campus. The first meeting will be at 2 p.m. Aug. 6. The remaining meetings will take place during fall semester at 3 p.m. Oct. 17 and 5:15 p.m. Nov. 18 . Gadsden, Ala.- รศรรสำฦต’s ACE Institute will host sessions for dual enrollment students from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 13 in the รศรรสำฦต Cherokee computer lab in Centre and One Stop Center on the East Broad Campus in Gadsden. Sessions will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 14 and 15 at the Learning Resource Center on the Ayers Campus in Anniston and the One Stop Center in Gadsden. These events will provide information to potential students and their parents concerning dual enrollment policies, student expectations, how to be successful and ACE Scholarship requirements. Gadsden, Ala.- รศรรสำฦต’s Skills Training Division is conducting computer training courses for those interested in professional development. Classes are available in Microsoft PowerPoint 2016, Microsoft Word 2016 Beginning, Microsoft Word 2016 Intermediate, Microsoft Excel 2016 Beginning and Microsoft Excel 2016 Intermediate.
Classes are open to all ages. Enrollment for each course is a minimum of 10. All classes are held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Office Careers Lab located in the Realtime Reporting Building on the East Broad Campus. Class dates vary with the first of the classes beginning Sept. 3. The cost is $99 per class. A reference book is required for each class and must be purchased in advance.
