Athletics Department to host “adoption ceremony”
Gadsden, Ala. — Ƶ’s Athletic Department is once again partnering with the , a non-profit organization that connects children battling pediatric brain tumors with college and high school sports teams.
Ƶ Athletics will signal the “adoption” of Levi Worthington during a special signing event at 4 p.m. April 29 in the Beck Conference Center. Levi is an 8-year-old boy from Susan Moore. He is battling an ependymoma brain tumor.
Through the adoption, Ƶ Athletics will organize special events, activities and experiences for the adopted families, allowing them to become an integral part of the College’s athletic community. The goal is to create a support system that extends beyond the conventional boundaries of a sports team, providing comfort and encouragement to the children and their families.
The public and media are invited to attend. Blake Lewis, athletic director; Denis Murphy, founder/director of the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation; and members of the Worthington family will be available for interviews.
